hemiparesis vs. hemiplegia: What's the difference?
Hemiparesis is partial or slight paralysis or weakness affecting one side of the body. It鈥檚 less severe than hemiplegia, which is total paralysis of one side of the body, usually as the result of a brain injury. Hemi- means 鈥渉alf鈥 and in both words indicates that only one side of the body is affected.
