hemiparesis vs. hemiplegia: What's the difference?

Hemiparesis is partial or slight paralysis or weakness affecting one side of the body. It’s less severe than hemiplegia, which is total paralysis of one side of the body, usually as the result of a brain injury. Hemi- means “half” and in both words indicates that only one side of the body is affected.
