Edward Sebuufu, alias Eddie Mutwe, was reportedly picked up on Sunday by unidentified individuals in both civilian clothes and military fatigues in the central town of Kiwango, sparking public outrage.

"Lay down your weapon, change into civilian clothes, and leave the area to save your life," says one.

"Many removed their military uniforms, threw away their weapons and wore civilian clothes. Others ran away."

Sharaa was relaxed throughout the interview, wearing civilian clothes, and tried to offer reassurance to all those who believe his group has not broken with its extremist past.

The BLA has said it was targeting military personnel travelling in civilian clothes, according to news agency Reuters.
