Republican candidate Derrick Anderson and Democrat Eugene Vindman are fighting to represent Virginia's 7th district, which encompasses Fredericksburg and Culpeper in the northern part of the state.

The field includes four current and former elected officials from Prince William County, a northern Virginia suburb constituting more than a third of the district stretching south past Fredericksburg and west past Culpeper.

Nick Freitas, the GOP nominee in a Culpeper County-area seat that’s strongly Republican, has also faced questions about his residency.

The Virginia facility, which serves as a training hub for regional National Guard units among other functions, had previously honored Culpeper, Virginia-born Gen. Ambrose Powell Hill, a West Point graduate and Mexican War veteran who served under Stonewall Jackson and fought in some of the Civil War’s most notable battles.

Culpeper County Sheriff Scott Jenkins is charged in a 16-count indictment, along with three businessmen who are accused of paying bribes to Jenkins.
