“While Smartmatic claims scores of lost contract opportunities, there is no evidence that Fox News’s coverage caused a single former, existing or potential customer to refuse to do business with Smartmatic,” the court filing said.

Edison generates billions of dollars in revenue every year and has a history of passing along the costs of disasters to customers.

"We are not asking our members or customers to do anything differently at this point."

The move, which is part of his strategy to win back customers, comes as other food and drink chains increasingly adopt technology to cut costs.
