After the modern RAF paid its own tribute with a thundering flypast, the veterans were slowly wheeled across to Palace, in one last column.

Three generations of the Royal Family have appeared on the Buckingham Palace balcony to watch the Red Arrows flypast marking 80 years since the end of World War Two in Europe.

The procession will be followed by a flypast of current and historic military aircraft.

The King and Queen will also be on the Palace balcony to watch a flypast and attend a celebratory concert for the occasion, which marks the end of World War Two in Europe.

Commemorations for this year's VE Day will begin on the Early May Bank Holiday on 5 May, with a military procession from Whitehall to Buckingham Palace and an RAF flypast over London.
