Despite Gaza’s 25-mile Mediterranean coast line, fish here is expensive because of Israel’s maritime blockade under which fishermen are only allowed to go out 12 nautical miles, severely restricting how much seafood they can catch.

Salt Line has a relationship with Old Line Fish Company in Annapolis that operates as if it were a CSA, supplying the restaurant with whatever fishermen catch as opposed to what they might be asked to bring in.

A spin-off from the Oyster Recovery Partnership, Old Line Fish Co. was the first in the region to offer home cooks in and around Annapolis biweekly bags of bay species such as soft-shell clams, blue catfish and blue crabs last summer.
