Listeria contamination at a BrucePac processing plant this month and a deadly multistate outbreak linked to Boar鈥檚 Head liverwurst over the summer led to the sweeping recalls.
As a result of the multistate outbreak, which sickened dozens of people and was linked to 10 deaths, Boar鈥檚 Head permanently discontinued its liverwurst product and shut down its Jarratt, Va., facility.
Boar鈥檚 Head said an internal investigation revealed the 鈥渞oot cause鈥 of the listeria contamination was a 鈥減roduction process that only existed at the Jarratt facility and was used only for liverwurst.鈥
