DJ Kool Herc and Link Wray will be inducted as influences and Don Cornelius, the “Soul Train” creator and host who died in 2012, will be honored as a nonperformer.

Don Cornelius, the late creator of the “Soul Train” TV program, is going in as a nonperformer who had a major impact on the growth of the music industry.

In 1983, Mr. Stein was part of a group of music and media executives that created the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation, and in 2005 he was inducted into the hall as a nonperformer.

In 2002, after decades out of the public eye, Mr. Stewart was elected to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in the nonperformer category for his contributions to the creation and evolution of Southern soul music.

Three of this year’s inductees were already in the hall: Grohl as a member of Nirvana, Turner with Ike and Tina Turner, and King as a nonperformer, with her songwriting partner and former husband Gerry Goffin.
