During a morning briefing, Patel highlighted a few specific defendants — including a state trooper from Minneapolis, an undocumented immigrant arrested in Norfolk, Va., and a former Washington, D.C., police officer, the Washington Post reported.

He’s also enlisted local police, state troopers and private security for the events.

"Nowhere will be safer than New Orleans now," he said, as he gestured at a small group of state troopers on Bourbon Street.

Governor Ron DeSantis’ administration has worked hard to kneecap the rights-restoring proposal, reportedly sending state troopers to interrogate petition signers and threatening to prosecute television stations that run ads supporting the measure.

The only sign of the chaos of this past week is state troopers guarding local schools, called in by Ohio Gov Mike DeWine after nearly 30 bomb threats against schools and government buildings.
