It’s a viral post shared by millions of people across the globe — including Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai, “Bridgerton” actress Nicola Coughlan, and model Bella Hadid — in response to Israel’s missile strike Sunday that killed dozens of civilians in a camp for displaced Palestinians in the southern Gaza Strip city.

As Israel’s invasion of Rafah stretches into its third week, hundreds of thousands of people fleeing the southern Gaza Strip city have encountered miserable conditions in their new encampments and shelters.

President Joe Biden’s national security adviser said Monday that while the United States was committed to Israel’s defense, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government had still failed to provide the White House with a plan for moving nearly 1 million Palestinians safely out of Rafah before any invasion of the southern Gaza Strip city.

They could do so, critics say, to try to get Israel to let more humanitarian aid into Gaza as it teeters on the brink of famine, to scale back its military campaign or to refrain from invading the Gaza Strip city of Rafah, where many civilians have fled.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Sunday that Israeli forces would push into the southern Gaza Strip city of Rafah regardless of the outcome of talks to pause the fighting that appear to have been making some progress in recent days.
