In ways reminiscent of Fiasco Theater, another young New York company that has charmed Folger playgoers — with a delightfully intimate version of Shakespeare’s “The Two Gentlemen of Verona” — the Bedlam folks are all about dismantling the barriers between an audience and a classic text.

The show will mark the first musical adaptation of a Shakespeare play at the Delacorte since "Two Gentlemen of Verona, The Musical" premiered there in 1971.

I played Launce in “Two Gentlemen of Verona” — the same part I played in the musical version in 1971 — and ended up adopting this ragamuffin that played my dog Crab.
