It went on about Marxism and transgenderism and the non-existent Green New Deal, as to be expected — all the memos and orders from the new administration sound like they were written by right-wing social media troll-bots.

Well, they didn’t look so ruthlessly effective on Wednesday: After a two-page Office of Management and Budget memo purporting to “pause” $3 trillion in federal spending to review whether it promoted “Marxist equity,” “transgenderism,” or “green new deal social engineering” triggered 36 hours of confusion, angry backlash, and a national shutdown of the Medicaid payment system, the Trump administration has abandoned the effort.

Even so, Trump’s Office of Management and Budget said in its two-page memo that it needed to pause spending to prevent using federal money to “advance Marxist equity, transgenderism and green new deal social engineering.”

The order insists that all federal grant and loan spending must be halted to combat "Marxist equity, transgenderism, and green new deal social engineering policies."

“The use of Federal resources to advance Marxist equity, transgenderism, and green new deal social engineering policies is a waste of taxpayer dollars that does not improve the day-to-day lives of those we serve.”
